Special delivery: How a Freedom Fertility pharmacist went above and beyond

Mar 28, 2025

Watch the story of one Freedom Fertility by Evernorth employee’s mission to ensure a patient received her time-sensitive medication.

Fertility challenges are common – affecting about 1 in 10 men and women of reproductive age in the United States – and the therapies that help people get and stay pregnant can be extremely time-sensitive. That’s why Jo Stewart, a staff pharmacist at Freedom Fertility by Evernorth, was concerned when she realized a pregnant patient hadn’t picked up the prescription she needed to administer that day.

Stewart, who has been with Freedom Fertility for 24 years, has extensive experience counseling patients through their fertility journeys. She knew that if the patient didn’t administer the therapy as scheduled, there could have been adverse effects on her pregnancy.

Stewart reached out to the patient, who explained that she and her husband were unable to pick up the prescription before the pharmacy closed for the day. Without hesitation, Stewart offered to drive the prescription to a meeting place, where she handed off the prescription to the husband. Stewart’s special delivery was a success, and the patient was able to administer the treatment she needed, when she needed it.

Stewart’s willingness to go above and beyond is a testament to the entire Freedom Fertility by Evernorth team and their dedication to delivering exceptional patient care, no matter the circumstances.
