Bloomfield, Conn., March 10, 2026 — The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), an independent nonprofit that sets national standards for health care quality, has recognized MD Live by Evernorth for excellence in virtual primary and urgent care services across all 50 states. The accreditation affirms that MD Live’s 2,400 board‑certified clinicians deliver virtual care that meets nationally recognized standards for quality, safety, and care coordination.
“MD Live is committed to advancing quality and accountability in virtual care, and this achievement reflects MD Live’s ongoing focus on quality improvement, patient experience, and meaningful growth of care delivery,” said Maggie Williams, MD, senior medical director of primary care for MD Live by Evernorth. “Virtual care continues to play a critical role in expanding access to quality, convenient, and affordable health services, while shifting care to less costly, clinically appropriate settings when in‑person care isn’t required.”
MD Live was among a limited group of virtual-only companies selected to participate in an NCQA pilot to develop the formal Virtual Care Accreditation standards released by NCQA. The pilot helped inform the rigorous evaluation of evidence-based care standards across care coordination, patient safety, access, and quality outcomes delivered virtually.
"Earning NCQA Virtual Care Accreditation reflects MD Live’s commitment to meeting nationally recognized standards for high quality virtual care,” said Dr. Vivek K. Garg, president and CEO of NCQA. “This achievement demonstrates MD Live’s ability to deliver patient-centered care through well-defined governance and consistent operational practices that also support reliable access, accountability, and continuous quality improvement.”
As employers and health plans increasingly seek quality, lower‑cost alternatives to traditional sites of care, virtual care can help patients avoid higher‑cost settings like urgent care centers or emergency rooms when clinically unnecessary. With 20% of the U.S. population living in rural areas, virtual care is also a critical tool for expanding access to affordable, timely, and quality care without requiring long-distance travel.
MD Live, which was recently named one of the world’s top health-tech companies of 2025 by TIME, has provided virtual urgent care for more than a decade, treating common, non-emergency conditions such as urinary tract infections, upper respiratory infections, sore throat, and the common cold. The company has since expanded to include virtual behavioral, dermatology, and primary care, supporting more than 52 million patients. Most recently, MD Live introduced asynchronous E-Treatment for low-acuity issues, enabling care in as little as 10 minutes based on patient-submitted information.
