Over the past 9 years, as part of the Cigna team, Dr. Bhuvana Sagar has enjoyed a diverse career. She is currently serving as a Senior Medical Principal at Evernorth leading clinical innovation. Most recently, she been the National Medical Executive and clinical lead driving and supporting the enterprise oncology strategy. Bhuvana has led value based care reimbursement model development and is considered a thought leader working externally with professional societies, clinical experts and our clients.

Dr. Sagar has led several clinical initiatives to impact affordability, quality and simplicity. She has worked with a diverse and talented matrix team and executed on many successful programs. These include innovative solutions including site of care management for oncology drugs, biosimilar preferencing, precision medicine and genomics utilization, coverage policy, case management, management of bed days, oncology drug preferencing with matrix partners, clinical consult service, early ID of cancer patients, and Oncology CM among others. She has provided expert leadership in support of client teams and served as a speaker on several external arenas.

Dr. Sagar completed her residency in internal medicine at Columbia Presbyterian-St. Luke’s- Roosevelt in NYC and fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Sagar is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and holds an active license in the State of Texas and continues to practice. She recently completed her MBA in Health care management at university of Hartford.
