About
Kevin Ellis, DO, is the Chief Medical Officer of Evernorth Care Group. As the clinical leader for the 150-physician multispecialty group, Dr. Ellis oversees the strategy, development and implementation of innovative clinical programs that ensure the delivery of high quality, affordable health care services for Evernorth Care Group customers across the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Under Dr. Ellis’ leadership, the group has enhanced both quality of care and the patient experience, resulting in all 20 Evernorth Care Group medical centers receiving National Committee for Quality Assurance recognition as Patient Centered Medical Homes, as well as achieving Elite status in the American Physicians Group (APG) Standards of Excellence Survey.
Dr. Ellis joined Evernorth Care Group in February of 2013. He has been a practicing physician for more than 25 years and has served in medical leadership positions for 20 years.
Prior to joining Evernorth Care Group, Dr. Ellis served as Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operations Officer of North County Health Services (NCHS), a California private, non-profit Federally-Qualified Health Center system located in north San Diego County. During his tenure at NCHS, Dr. Ellis oversaw the successful implementation of the electronic health record for all 11 practice sites. In 2012, NCHS was awarded level-3 recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient-Centered Medical Home.
Dr. Ellis has extensive experience in the managed health care and practice management arenas, having served as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for a national physician practice management company. He is also the recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (San Diego).
Dr. Ellis completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of California at San Diego. He graduated medical school with honors from the University of North Texas/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Ellis performed his post graduate training in Michigan and Texas. He is Board Certified in Family Practice by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice.
