“Long-haulers” are individuals who have been infected by COVID-19 and have recovered from the acute infection, but continue to have lingering symptoms. It’s important to monitor these patients as there’s emerging evidence of ongoing morbidity or chronic suffering from COVID-19.

In this next installment of Clinically Speaking with Dr. Wig, I walk through the three phases of COVID-19 illness and indicate the long term symptoms that patients are experiencing. There’s still a lot that we don’t know about COVID-19, which means achieving herd immunity through vaccination is imperative to minimize the number of COVID-19 exposures and potential long-haul effects.
